a brief introdction:
IEC60695 Ball Pressure Tester
Standard: EN 61010-1-2001, Figure 8; IEC 60601-1, Figure 48; IEC 60335; IEC 60950
Details description:
IEC60695 Ball Pressure Tester
In this test, a conditioned specimen is placed on a preheated support and subjected to a force of 20N applied through a 5mm steel ball. The test stand, specimen and loading device are then kept in an oven at an elevated temperature for an hour. After the hour, the loading device is removed from the sample, the sample is cooled and any indentation is measured. It is important to assure that the test stand has reached a stable elevated temperature as required by the test. For this reason, the SafQ Ball Pressure Tester comes equipped with a thermocouple that inserts into the test stand so its temperature can be monitored.
The base is supplied with a thermocouple so the user can ensure it has stabilized at the correct temperature in the oven prior to placing the specimen on it and adding the loading device. This is also a recommended feature in the IEC standard that many devices do not offer.
Additional features of the Ball Pressure Tester kit are the included pair of insulated gloves and a stand for the pressure device. These are needed at the end of the test for the removal and storage of the pressure device when it is still hot. The kit also includes a 2mm check gauge that can be used to see if the specimen indentation passes or fails.
Application
The Ball Pressure Tester is used for testing parts of non-metallic materials for resistance to heat. It is applicable to electrotechnical equipment, its subassemblies and components, and to solid electrical insulating materials except ceramics.
Instrument
The Ball Pressure Tester is made to the specifications of IEC 60695-10-2 and other similar international standards. The Tester comes with interchangeable components to allow the user to select their testing preference to Figure 1a or Figure 1b of IEC 60695-10-2. In either configuration, the total force of the loading device is 20N 0.2N. In the case of using the 5mm ball, the mass of the ball is included in the total force.
